December is here (Week 14)

It's finally the month that everyone looks forward to, but don't want to let go.
December is here.
It's nearing the end of the year, also the end of our one Semester in Hallym University.

We attended a farewell party on 1st December, held by the Buddy program.
We are very grateful to all the buddies. Their buddy system is super awesome. We heard that they match us to our buddies according to our self introductions. How thoughtful is that!

The theme for this time's farewell party is "Black and Red", so we had to go shopping for clothes.
Students from various countries were at the party and they gave touching speech, stating that
"A farewell is necessary before meeting again.", and that "Goodbyes are not forever, they simply mean I'll miss you."

Ok, stopping with the sad quotes. Here are some memorable pictures we would like to remember.

Here is a picture of our buddy with her friend and Sam, the student that will be going to NYP for exchange in the coming semester.

It was the first time in awhile that we met up together and ate. We were all very busy with our school work and could only contact each other through Kakao talk.

We always laugh at how Sam needs to hang out with 3 of us but when he goes to Singapore, he will have 3 of us as his additional buddies.
How unfair haha!
We can't wait to bring him around the island!
There's just so many things we need to do in return and answer!

This girl on the left here is our classmate for International Business Analysis.
She's super bubbly and always say hello to us in class. She's really confident and a great English speaker. Her smile is very contagious and she's just really really crazy, just like us.

Here's a video of all the post cards our various buddy wrote to us ;__;

Here's a video of Sam dancing

We took this photo because it was the last finance lesson and we will be having our one and only written exam, THE Finance Exam next week. We have finance class with 2 other Germany guys and 1 other China guy. The class was really fun and our classmates are really friendly and nice! Remember that they brought us to eat FOOOOOOD?
We found this really delicious and filling dinner place! We randomly ordered 2 meals that were for 5 people but we had to try our best to finish our food! There were 2 pizza, 2 pork belly, a salad, a huge bowl of soup and 5 bowls of rice WITH SEAWEED!! It is totally worth the money, it was 11,600 won per person ONLYYYYY !!!!!!! Heh. The amount of food is equivalent to a buffet !

We had pizza with our buddy the next day.
Sam was supposed to join us but he wasn't feeling well.
We even waited for him >:(
The pizza store is called "Pizza No.1" and it's super cheap for a super huge plate of 18 inch pizza.
We only had to pay 5000Won per person!!

WE LOVE THE FOOD IN KOREA!

We spent the weekend in Fake Myeong Dong.
TarrTarr is a new pastry store that opened on 4th December!
They gave a free cup because they just opened. We all want the free cup. We're Asians.
aaaaand, Bingsu. Again.
We just can't stop eating bingsu!
We have to finish the entire menu before we go home. We can try.

The Rilakkuma was caught by Belle at a UFO catcher machine.
Koreans are really crazy over the machine and they're really really good at catching the toys inside. We saw one dude catching close to 10 of them in the same machine.
It was crazy!

Lotte mart is always as exciting. They were selling fruits. Korean fruits. Especially strawberries.

We each bought a box of strawberries back and finished it in a few days.
The pomegranates were also SUPER huge and cheap. Unlike Singapore.

Oh and, we went Skiing with Eileen and Estee.
We fell. Super a lot of times.
Please do not attempt to go to the highest hill, it might give you a concussion.
We fell so many times we don't even know if it hurts anymore. We went back with quite a few bruises HAHAHAHA PLEASE BE CAREFUL

Snow! (Week 13)

Hello hello, it snowed on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!
We ate BBQ with Eileen and Estee again on that day.
That was when we saw snow for the first time in 19 years!
It's super cold but we picked up snow from the bench (in the picture above) and made them into snowball and threw it at each other's shoes hahaha!
The snow kind of felt annoying after while when it started to get heavier.
It's very much like raining, just that you don't get drenched in the water.

It's week thirteen already. Time flew by so quickly, we were all being caught up in everything that we were doing. We're constantly busy with school work but the days we spent outside of school made us stop to appreciate the fact that we are in Korea, living and breathing in the culture. All the times that had passed were surreal and it was tears and joy everyday. We were sometimes frustrated at our school work but it disperse whenever we take the time to walk to Myeong Dong, or just around the school. There was always time for a breather, something to bring us back to appreciate the culture around us.
Ordering food was never easy. When we learn how to read the words, we were able to pronounce them and tried to order the food in Korean. We appreciate all the staffs and Ajumas for laughing at us, repeating our order again just so we could repeat what they said and learn the correct pronunciation.
We appreciate our teachers for understanding us when we tried to warm up to the school system at the start of the semester. It was not easy, but we managed to adapt to the system as quickly as we adapted to the environment.
Talking was not easy but we gradually learnt how to ask for things, or understood when they told us how much our meals costed. We are grateful to the people who had taught us all we needed to know when we were in Korea.

Keeping the rest of the sentimental values to week 16, here is some cute cheese that Liang Jing bought in the convenient store.

TSUM TSUM CHEESE W FREE STICKER!!

Foodie week (Week 12)

This week is all about food.
Our buddy brought us to a cafe bakery somewhere further up in the mountains.
The place is called "랃들리에"!
We had to take a taxi there, and call a taxi to pick us up. That's how "somewhere up there" the store is, but it is worth the effort.
The location is far but it is surrounded by mountains and trees, which adds to the atmosphere. It just feels very homely.

Look at all the Christmas decorations!

Santa!

Cheese Kimchi!
These pound cakes look like jewellery boxes with hidden gold inside

We all bought our cakes and sat in a corner. They played Christmas-y songs in there, which made us feel more homely. We hope that Christmas would come soon.

The place at night looks as beautiful as it is in the afternoon.
After the cake session, we went nearby our school to eat 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal) for dinner.
Remember we said how Kimchi tastes good with BBQ?
It's because the vegetable sucks up all the oil from the meat.
Sounds disgusting?
I'll eat it for you :)

Also that weekend, we met up with Alex and his friends in Sinsa!
Two of them were students who went to Singapore for exchange in the last semester. They are from Gachon University.
And, we had 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal). Again. heh.
This Samgyeopsal was nicer but it was also more expensive.
Is this the law of equivalent exchange ahahaha
I'd go for the cheaper one in more quantity. Yes. Yeessss.

Chill! (Week 11)

scroll for more..........

Good day mate.
We had fun on Friday where we went out with the same Korean boy that went to Nami Island with us!
We had the same BBQ as that day we went to the Big Bang exhibition. We didn't know we had the same buffet restaurant in ChunCheon MyeongDong!
We kept our stomachs empty till lunch, where we just go full throttle!
The sizzle of the meat on the hot plates were very nice to hear.
Surprising enough, BBQ Kimchi tastes good. You might not believe us but trust us, it tastes heavenly. The meat were fresh in the freezer and were constantly being topped up by the staff.
The meal only costs 11,900won per person! It's free flow with no time limit at all! How cool is that!!!!!

In the picture, we were cooking bacon and 삼겹살, which is pork belly in Korean.
All these Korean pork is just SUPER DELICIOUS LA!

We then went to take pictures to keep as memories. With out stinking clothes, the 6 of us went to the arcade and squeezed into a small purika machine to snap photos. Luckily the scent can't be captured in the images. We would be hungry every time we look at the pictures. Then, we didn't know what to do for the rest of the day, so we decided to watch a movie. We won't tell you what we watched, not until you scroll down. Exciting. Try guessing.

While waiting for time to pass, we went to grab some traditional Bingsu.
This is 인절미 Bingsu.

인절미, injeolmi, means glutinous rice cakes coated with roasted soybean powder. IT IS SUPER DELICIOUS?????
This bowl of Bingsu only costs us about 12,000Won ($SGD 14.60). I can hear all the Bingsu fans in Singapore crying ahaha

We watched Ouija!!!!
Did you guess it correctly?

One thing that is different from our local movie theater is that their cinemas are smaller. BUT. They have bag hooks at the back of their chairs. We didn't had to put our bags on the floor! The leg space is also very wide. Chairs are large.
In short, small but spacious.

That week, we also went to a Cat Cafe to de-stress.
Look at all these flurries ohmygod
Say no more.

not all cats are glam

Crazy time together (Week 10)

Long long post ahead!

Hello Hello this week was crazy!
We had never ending fun.

On Thursday after finance class, our Korean classmates suddenly stopped us, asking us if we were free at 6pm for dinner.
That was where the fun began.

Alright, so we met up, 3 of us, Eileen, Estee, Mao (Exchange student from China) and 5 of our Korean classmates just outside of the front gate.
We went to a nearby restaurant to eat. The restaurant sells pork.

Here's a photo of what we ordered!

We ate so much meat we couldn't even know what we were eating anymore.
All we knew was to keep eating.

We managed to talk to our classmates more, and got to know them better!
They asked us a lot of questions about Singapore and about us.
It was really exciting.

After that, we went across the school to have Bingsu with them.
The 5 of us shared a mango bingsu while the others shared a super huge cereal bingsu(?) in the photo below!
It was crazy. Belle had to go over and help them with it.

After the meal, we all went our separate ways, back to our dorms and homes. It was a really fun night!
But, we had to prepare for the trip tomorrow.

On Friday, we went going to.....남이섬Nami Island!!!!!!!
Goodbye Korea, Hello Sentosa! I mean, Nami Island!
It is 63 km away from Seoul, towards the direction of Chuncheon, which is where we are at!
The Island is 553,560 sq yards, but we only walked half of the Island. It's just too huge.

Before we went to Nami Island, we had our lunch in the school cafeteria.
This was what Belle and Liang Jing ate. They had "ChamCham", which consists of Ramen, and 2 other ingredients which you can choose from, like Cheese, Ham, egg etc.

The three of us went with Eileen, Estee and Jin Su, a Korean boy!
Estee and Belle initially wanted to Zip Line across to Nami Island, because why not. However, after looking at the price, they both decided that the boat was a much better option afterall.
The zip line costs 38,000Won, while the boat ride only costs 8,000Won (because we are "Koreans").
Moreover, the zip line takes about 1 minute 30 seconds.
They even joked, saying that by the time they screamed 38,000Won (Sam man pacchon) in Korean, they would have reached the island.

Singapore flag!

Which way will you go?

We visited Nami Island during Autumn, so we got to see the browning leaves! We were even worried that the trees would be bald by the time we visited because the trees in our school were turning bald. But we were glad we went at the right time!
There were just so many leaves that fell all over the floor it was super beautiful.

When we entered Nami Island, a little to the inside on the right, there's a shelter, decorated with many autumn leafed paper. It was so pretty we wrote something and tied it on the bridge as well.
There were many foreigners in the island so there were many different kinds of languages written on the paper leaves.
It's very interesting to read those that caught our eyes!
This is Belle and Shi Jia attempting to take a picture of the duck.
It was kinda cold that day and it was really cute to watch the duck swim from one side to the other side.

You know, how people say that it is nicer to eat ice cream during winter.
Even though it's not winter yet.

Shi Jia and Estee went to buy some Korean pancakes which were nearby.

Here's some group picture!

Calm down guys, it's just a boat

On Saturday, Belle and ShiJia went to DongDaeMun with Eileen and Estee!
Here's how the inside of DDM looks like.

Never ending rows and rows and rows of shops. They sell things ranging from clothes, to accessories to shoes, to luggage. It feels like Platinum mall in Thailand, just that DDM is being split into 3 different malls but the one in Thailand is just 1 gigantic mall.

Here are some more photos!

Strawberry crepe!

Girls in short skirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of GD's hair

This is all we have for this week!
It was really crazy busy.
