December is here (Week 14)

It's finally the month that everyone looks forward to, but don't want to let go.
December is here.
It's nearing the end of the year, also the end of our one Semester in Hallym University.

We attended a farewell party on 1st December, held by the Buddy program.
We are very grateful to all the buddies. Their buddy system is super awesome. We heard that they match us to our buddies according to our self introductions. How thoughtful is that!

The theme for this time's farewell party is "Black and Red", so we had to go shopping for clothes.
Students from various countries were at the party and they gave touching speech, stating that
"A farewell is necessary before meeting again.", and that "Goodbyes are not forever, they simply mean I'll miss you."

Ok, stopping with the sad quotes. Here are some memorable pictures we would like to remember.

Here is a picture of our buddy with her friend and Sam, the student that will be going to NYP for exchange in the coming semester.

It was the first time in awhile that we met up together and ate. We were all very busy with our school work and could only contact each other through Kakao talk.

We always laugh at how Sam needs to hang out with 3 of us but when he goes to Singapore, he will have 3 of us as his additional buddies.
How unfair haha!
We can't wait to bring him around the island!
There's just so many things we need to do in return and answer!

This girl on the left here is our classmate for International Business Analysis.
She's super bubbly and always say hello to us in class. She's really confident and a great English speaker. Her smile is very contagious and she's just really really crazy, just like us.

Here's a video of all the post cards our various buddy wrote to us ;__;

Here's a video of Sam dancing

We took this photo because it was the last finance lesson and we will be having our one and only written exam, THE Finance Exam next week. We have finance class with 2 other Germany guys and 1 other China guy. The class was really fun and our classmates are really friendly and nice! Remember that they brought us to eat FOOOOOOD?
We found this really delicious and filling dinner place! We randomly ordered 2 meals that were for 5 people but we had to try our best to finish our food! There were 2 pizza, 2 pork belly, a salad, a huge bowl of soup and 5 bowls of rice WITH SEAWEED!! It is totally worth the money, it was 11,600 won per person ONLYYYYY !!!!!!! Heh. The amount of food is equivalent to a buffet !

We had pizza with our buddy the next day.
Sam was supposed to join us but he wasn't feeling well.
We even waited for him >:(
The pizza store is called "Pizza No.1" and it's super cheap for a super huge plate of 18 inch pizza.
We only had to pay 5000Won per person!!

WE LOVE THE FOOD IN KOREA!

We spent the weekend in Fake Myeong Dong.
TarrTarr is a new pastry store that opened on 4th December!
They gave a free cup because they just opened. We all want the free cup. We're Asians.
aaaaand, Bingsu. Again.
We just can't stop eating bingsu!
We have to finish the entire menu before we go home. We can try.

The Rilakkuma was caught by Belle at a UFO catcher machine.
Koreans are really crazy over the machine and they're really really good at catching the toys inside. We saw one dude catching close to 10 of them in the same machine.
It was crazy!

Lotte mart is always as exciting. They were selling fruits. Korean fruits. Especially strawberries.

We each bought a box of strawberries back and finished it in a few days.
The pomegranates were also SUPER huge and cheap. Unlike Singapore.

Oh and, we went Skiing with Eileen and Estee.
We fell. Super a lot of times.
Please do not attempt to go to the highest hill, it might give you a concussion.
We fell so many times we don't even know if it hurts anymore. We went back with quite a few bruises HAHAHAHA PLEASE BE CAREFUL

It's laundry day today (Week 2)

Hello everyone!
It's another new post.
We just dumped our clothes in the washer so we're waiting for them aaaand, here we are.

We can't remember in chronological order what we did but here are the things that we saw, ate, felt was pretty cool in Chuncheon. They're interesting.

First, we ate Korea's favourite: Fried Chicken.
Can you smell the chicken?

We ate (normal) Fried Chicken and Sweet Spicy Chicken. It came with a bowl of white pickled raddish (the bowl of white thing in the middle >). It came with 1 bottle of coke and 1 salt and 1 spicy sauce condiment.

The two gigantic plates of Chicken costs 22,000Won (SGD$27.15). Expensive aye. But we figured it was alright once in a while. It's chicken after all.

< Here's what they have in the store!
It's just located outside of our school so it's really convenient.

hi birdy
Look at this Korean bird. It looks pretty much normal but Liang Jing said it had a blue-ish tail. We noticed two of these kind of birds hopping around the field. They are bigger than our usual birds.

this
Anyway, we were sitting on the bench (beneath a small hut house) and were looking around the school field when we suddenly decided to raise our head to look at the roof. That was when, we saw this. We believe it brings good luck. As the hut is just beside the field, it probably brought good luck to the players who are about to have a match. We have yet to ask why they have this symbolic item but we will find out next Tuesday.

deng deng, our Psychology class

This is their eye check up chart
We went to take our chest x-ray at a hospital and met up with a Japanese. Ohmygod.
Anyway, the X-ray was quicker than we had expected.
Deng deng, we found this chart (above). It was really interesting. We've only ever seen these kind of charts in Japanese animations but we were not expecting to see one in real life. It's an eye check up chart. Our buddy told us that they had to point in the direction of the gap. It was really awkward. Can you even see the last row?????????????

Look at their awkward computers HAHA
In our dorm, we have a computer room with a printer inside, just beside the laundry room. It's free access to everyone in the dorm.

< Here's the cafeteria food that we tried to order. As per usual, we were randomly matching the Korean words and jabbing on the touch screen.

This is a chocolate marshmallow cake. It tastes like twiggies in Singapore.
Bonus: it's cute.

Singapore's packet drink can never beat this PACKET drink
The true meaning of packet drink is in Korea where it's literally shaped like a packet. You're actually supposed to purchase a cup of ice and pour the contents in but we ended up just drinking it directly from the packet. No difference if you leave it in the fridge for awhile. It costs 1500Won (SGD$2).

browning maple leaves
We took this photo after class when we were going back to our dorm. Isn't it beautiful?
We can't wait for Summer to end. The weather is much like Singapore here, just that the wind that attacks us are cooler than in Singapore.

Did we mention our everlasting love for the shop called "Tomato" ?
It's like the best shop ever, and it's just right outside the school, on the same side.

The rice is just super filling and a meal hardly costs more than 5000Won (SGD$6.20). It's expensive but that's all we can order. Otherwise, we'll be eating onigiri (800Won, SGD$1) and kimbap (1500Won, SGD$2) from the convenience store everyday.

Its time for us to pick up our clothes again so here are some more photos of our classrooms to share with you!

All the student's name in Korean!

We found this dog cafe where they had white puppies! THEY WERE SO SMALL!

Just right outside of our school, on the right. Can you spot the pizza shop?

A flower we saw while we were walking home from the supermarket. They're blooming so beautifully.

We're slowly getting used to our teacher's teaching style and found their education system very interesting.
Classes here are very open to opinions and our own ideas. It could be possibly due to us selecting more business modules than I.T. modules. It is really very interesting to view different discussions from foreign students from other countries as well. It's really an eye opening experience.

Alright!
We have to go now!
All the best, good luck!

Shopping!! (Week 1)

IS SATURDAY!!! That means its shopping day!!!
Before we go into shopping, let us tell you about what we did before Saturday.....

Here are our classrooms!
They are much like tutorial rooms in NYP except they don't really have air-con in them... They're like fan-air-con. Not those huge centralised air-cons.

Management in IS
International Business
Finance

Tadah! Ajuma food!

We met up with our buddy after class and said hi to her. She was our senior's buddy as well last year!! She's super friendly.

She brought us to eat just right outside our school.

This is our first full Korean meal in Korea.
It's exactly what you see in those drama where they sit on the floor and eat with their parents.
Yes.
100% Korean.
Liang Jing's favourite was the spicy squid.
Belle and Shi Jia's favourite was the Soup Tofu!

We would like to go back but the menu is in Korean. We only know how to say Soup Tofu in Korean - Soo Too Poo.
We'll explain why it's "Poo" in awhile...

We went to Chuncheon Myeongdong to splurge our money on Daiso. We bought a ton of daily necessities and materials for classes. After that, we went to a supermarket to buy a hairdryer. It was starting to get late so we went back to our dorm for the day.

Why Pie
In the early morning, we settled our dorm fee which cost us 1,202,000 Won (~SGD 1,380) and took our Wi-Fi (pronounced as Wi-Pie in Korean HAHA).

Our finance professor mentioned that Korean doesnt have the letter "F" in their alphabets. Ho. Ho. Ho.

Anyway, Here's an image of our Wi-Pie.

There is ZERO CONNECTION in the room. We had to open our doors or stand outside of our room just to connect to the internet. It was terrible.

< Until we met this life saver. We love TPLink.

We managed to go back to the supermarket our buddy brought us to on our own! :D (We'll upload an image soon.)

Tomato Volcano Sauce

Here's what we had for dinner on Friday.
It's called "Tomato" and it's super delicious.

Thinking about it makes me hungry.

Apparently, they close their shop at about 8.30 PM. It was hilarious how we were approached by the staff and told to like leave, but we didn't understand until they tried to hand sign the door closing.
We ended up taking away our half eaten meal and finished it in the dorm HAHAHA.

And now, to Saturday. SHOPPING TIME!

Chuncheon Myeongdong @ night

We walked around aimlessly and spent half of our day shopping. Oops.
A lot of the facial products are on 1 + 1 or 10 + 10. There is no in-between HAHA.
Go big or go home.
Pokemon craze!

We found KFC. We ate KFC for lunch. It was hard to order as we had to point at the menu or just try our luck by pointing at something that we felt was okay. Ordering was terrible. But the chicken was good so it didn't matter.

This is for the OCD people >>
It felt like we were solving a jigsaw puzzle.

They're so cute.
The art box in Korea has 3 floors. Gosh. How cool is that? We probably spent an hour in there or something. It's also much cheaper than in Singapore.

All these shoes but you still won't run to me.
We then continued walking around aimlessly and saw shoe shops on sale. We were extermely tempted by the shoes. Some of them were as cheap as 69000 Won! All the sport shoes we can buy....

We went into 3 shops back to back that were having sale and they all had the same price.
Can't tell if they were being friendly or what.

Anyway, we managed to walk to a cinema and wanted to watch a movie but there wasn't much on show currently. We wanted to watch "Secret Life of Pets" but it was unavailable at the one we went to (I think it was CGV).

Sassy...

Here's Belle's loots for the day. omg.

SO, we ended up taking PICTURES!
The Purika we went to was only 7000Won for those two pieces!

Singapore's Purika costs about $10/12SGD for a miserly one piece.
How nice of Korea. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, we then walked around some more and managed to find a shopping mall called "M" that had Uniqlo in it.

We are currently waiting for our clothes to dry as we sit down to type out this post. Here's a picture of the dorm's washing machine.

Can you hear us scream as we jab on the buttons by random? HAHA It took us awhile to understand what each button does.
To our future juniors:

First, put in the money.

Secondly, put in your (dirty) clothes and pour detergent at the box by the side.

Then, press the second button from the top. It means "Standard"

Then, press the last button. It (kinda) means "Start".

Lastly, watch your clothes swirl inside!
No JK, type your blog post for that day.

It takes about 35 minutes for the clothes to be done.

It's about time the dryer called for us.
Here are some more images to end our post:

View from the front door of our dorm

It's kinda like a market, like Chinatown

He's literally everywhere in Korea.

Good luck and cheers!
